Location access helps Proximate show nearby venues, calculate distance and support venue check-in features. Your precise live location is not displayed to other users.
“Live Now” indicates that recent activity has been recorded at a venue, such as active check-ins or an ongoing event. Counts can change as people arrive or leave.
Nearby results are based on your location, selected search radius, venue activity and availability. You can adjust the radius where this option is available.
Yes. Some nearby features may be limited, but you can still browse available venues and app content. Proximate does not broadcast your precise GPS position to other users.
At participating venues, you may check in from the venue page or by scanning a Proximate QR code. A check-in confirms that you are at that venue; it does not expose your exact position inside or outside the venue.
No. QR codes unlock venue-specific experiences at participating locations, but core features such as browsing venues and viewing nearby activity remain available without scanning one.
Available options depend on the venue and may include viewing the menu, seeing specials or events, joining a venue hub, requesting service, making a reservation, leaving feedback or earning rewards.
You can check out manually where the option is shown. Proximate may also prompt you to check out after you leave the venue area so that live activity remains accurate.
Open a participating venue's page, tap Reserve or Book a table, select the available date, time and party size, then submit your request.
Not always. Some venues confirm instantly, while others may need to approve the request. Your reservation status will be shown in the app.
Open your reservation and select the cancellation option if it is available. Venue-specific cancellation conditions may apply.
Messaging availability depends on your interactions and the app's current connection rules. You remain in control of whether you continue a conversation.
Open the relevant profile or conversation and use the available report or block option. Reports are reviewed to help protect the Proximate community.
